FAA Grant Management

Hello all-  I recently started a new job at a GA airport and have taken over grant management. Currently, the airport uses multiple spreadsheets to manage the grant projects (i.e. invoices) to make sure the tally up to the requested amount. However, I find it a bit messy as I am trying to close out one of the open grants. I am wondering if anyone here has a clean and well-organized way of managing their grants...

Deralict Aircraft

We're about to have to kick a bunch of hangar queen aircraft out on the ramp, due to our ongoing obstruction (hangars) removal project.  We don't really have an obscure corner of the airfield to stick them, and I obviously don't want a bunch of aircraft with flat tires, bird nests in the cowlings, and flaking paint jobs front and center in front of our shiny new terminal.  My question is, how to we go...

Skydiving

We have had skying operations on our airport years ago, but have not kept up with the current regs since the skydiving opertion moved away. Recently there has been a move towards bringing skydiving back onto our airfield. My question here is have there been any major changes in NOTAM reporting etc... Just beginning my research, thought I'd start here. A brief overview would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Aircraft Operations Counts

Between several recent plans that have estimated our aircraft operations (ranging from 19,000 from the FAA to 36,000 from our recent Master Plan update) we're looking at doing a more reliable aircraft traffic count.  I'm currently looking at acoustic and/or camera systems.  This could be something that becomes a very long term project.  2 weeks every season for a year to establish a base.  Then on a rolling basis 2 weeks at different times than...

Strategic Plan

Our GA airport is about to embark on an update to our Airport Master Plan.  As a paralell project, our Board is interested in putting together a Strategic Plan for where they would like our airport to be in 5, 10 and 20 years.  Does your airport have a Strategic Plan?  If so, would you mind sharing it with me? Thanks, Stephen Bourque Boire Field Airport Manager

Airport Closure

This past winter, I closed our GA airport due to ice.  At the end of a day of snow removal, what snow was left on the surfaces melted and then flash froze leaving a thin layer of glare ice on all surfaces.  Braking action was nil everywhere.  We have no capability for chemical or sand so I closed the airport overnight with the intention to reopen as soon as the morning sun had a chance...

Airport Manager

We own and manage a small GA airport in Northern California.  We need to replace our aging Avgas and JetA aboveground fuel tanks (12,000 gal each), but are getting conflicting information on the type of tank allowed by California regulations, in particular the fire rating of the tank.  We've talked to tank suppliers but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what is allowed.  UL142 seems to be the the minimum standard, and the...

Shift Schedules

I'm trying to collect data from different agencies about their work schedule.  Currently, we work covering 24/7 via 9 rotating straight 8 shifts.  The Ops Officers all would like to switch to working 4/10's, and possibly having 2am-6am on call due to lack of events.  I'm trying to put something together that would be appealing to management, offer them savings through being on call, as well as something the group would all be for.  The...
