I'm taking the CM exam in December and was wondering if anyone could provide any helpful hints or suggestions.

Thanks!

My advice, is as others have said, STUDY the materials in the book, and go to the training class offered by AAAE. I had not had nearly the experience level as the others taking the test when I took the exam, and yet with the course and the study materials offered by AAAE, I passed the exam. One other note: Don't stress out about the exam. It isn't that difficult, but it is something you NEED to study for. Remember, despite it being a week off from work, you can't treat it like a vacation. It also helps to have the booklets printed out and put in a spiral binding, with pleanty of highlighters. 99.999% of the questions, the answers are taken directly from what is in the books, and the course goes over the answers in a fun and meaningful exercise.

I used flash cards, a review course and studied the outlines heavily. You will be given 1 of the 3 test versions. Study the specific envrionmental acts/laws, managment and motivation styles, leave out the stuff you really know til last minute. Here's a link to the flashcards: http://www.flashcardexchange.com/tag/aaae

Email me your information and i can forward you some of my review stuff and outlines.

Study the manuals and review the study guides and you should be fine.  The crash course is good, if you already have the knowledge in mind.  I have heard it is not for going in cold, unless you want to work twice as hard.  Good luck.

Study, Study, Study...If you think you know all of the material...Study again...I don't want to scare you but it is a very difficult test.  If there are areas you haven't been exposed to or have practical experience with, I suggest you talk to experts in those areas to clarify any questions.  There isn't one single sentence in all of the modules that a question can't be pulled from.  I had no problems taking tests in college but I found the CM test to be one of the harder tests I had ever taken...And I took the MCAT for admission to medical school...

Most people I know took the week long AAAE crash course in Dallas. I took it as well, and I passed. I recommend it, even though it can be kind of pricey!
