Taxiway Names and Engineering Brief 89

Well, they finally caught up to us here at KDEN! When this airport was designed back in the 80's, there wasn't much guidance on how to name your taxiways other than pretty much use the alphabet and don't confuse the pilots. This guidance improved over the years unitl they dropped Engineering Brief (EB) 89 on us back in 2012.  Pretty specific and really tightened up the rules on how to name your taxiway system.  We have...

Runway Closures for Maintenance

I dug through as many old posts as I could stand and did not see this question.  I'll keep it simple.   What safety measures/procedures does you airport use when you close a runway for 'gerneral' maintenance; mowing, electrical, pavement repair, etc?  Are these procedures outlined in your internal operational instruction documents? We have quite an extensive Operating Instruction that outlines these procedures but many of our team are questioning some of the requirements.  A...

Welcome and thanks for joining, I lived in Denver back in 1988 when I was stationed at Lowry AFB. Enjoyed my time in Denver. Want to take the family back there one day.

Thanks to the members, the site continues to grow and has become more helpful. If you like what you see I encourage you to invite more people. Thank you

Operations Manager at Denver International Airport.  Love this job with all the daily challenges and curveballs we have to hit everyday!

Been in Denver a little over 12 years now.  Prior to KDEN was in KALB Operations for a short stint.  Before that, some airline experience in crew scheduling and dispatch for a now defunct east coast regional airline.

Received my BS in Aviation Management from FIT in 1992.  Prior to school, I served in the USN onboard the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier.

With only 300 days of sunshine a year, I try to play golf when I can. :-)  Really, my family takes up most of my non-work time.  I homebrew every once in a while and enjoy trying to keep up with my two kids!
